2021 Boys Boys Boys, White Wine, El Dorado County, Camino Alto Vineyard

Summer is here early and boys...it's time to play.

This lively summer white wine is swinging with alluring aromas and playful flavors. Once you try some, you'll be ready to join in the fun.

Our favorite spot to source white grape varieties right now is in the Sierra Foothills, where weird varieties still frolic and warm growing seasons combine with cool mountain air to make for interesting and tasty flavors. Our first stop of the season was at the Camino Alto Vineyard, which sits about 2,900 feet in elevation inside the Apple District in El Dorado County. This immaculately farmed vineyard is planted in dense volcanic clay and is home to a diverse swath of unique grape varieties. The question is, which ones would we dance with?

Comprising the largest portion of this blend is Fiano, an Italian grape known for its intense aromas, and strong flavors of honey, spice, and nut. Soon we found that Fiano was into Chenin Blanc, who was into Marsanne and before we knew it, we had eight different varieties of grapes to invite to this beach party. Picked in the late part of summer, our merry group of winemakers put these cute little grape morsels direct to press.

What we love about this wine is the way it smells. Sexy aromas of yellow peach and lemon invite you in for a splash. In your mouth, it's a romp, with Fiano flavors of honey, plus pear, lemongrass, and white pepper spice. Where this thing really works is with food. So get your cheeseboards out, start prepping your Thai curry, and prepare yourself to let loose.

So let's look forward to kicking back with the boys this summer and girls, don't worry, you're next.
