The unified, undisputed heavyweight champion of the world…ladies and gents, the original 2012 The Heavy Cabernet Sauvignon. John L. Sullivan was an American heavyweight prizefighter from the late 19th century. Sullivan was old school. He started fighting when boxing was illegal, is regarded as the last true bareknuckle champion, the first gloved champion and won more than 450 fights in his career.
You look at Sullivan and think, wow, this guy is a powerful bruiser—and he was. But he wasn’t just a brute. He was a strikingly dynamic, athletic and complex fighter who could dazzle the crowd with speed and swagger or shut his opponent’s lights out with one punch.
We wanted to make an unapologetic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Something big, brooding and able to go the distance. We also wanted something with good footwork. Luckily, our winemaking team gave us both. Here you get big fruit, chocolate, mocha and coffee flavors with just the right amount of tannins. It’s a knockout.
