The tango is often described as a vibrant, playful dance between two partners. For our Slow Tango, we wanted to craft a wine that perfectly balances old school richness with contemporary finesse.
With that in mind we wanted to develop a label that would balance classic flair with a contemporary feel. First we found a late 1800’s wood engraving of a Victorian era woman, taking a bear gently by the hand. This image really spoke to us and would serve as our starting point…from there we began layering behind them a captivating sunset, then a lakeside setting, adding an aura of old time sentimentality to the scene. With the illustration complete, we still felt it needed some prose to tell the tale of this chance encounter. After staring at the image for a night or two, we proceeded with a glass of wine in hand to write a short poem about how we thought these two charming individuals may have come together.
Grapes are sourced entirely from the Los Carneros AVA that straddles both Napa and Sonoma Counties (this blend is 86% Napa, 14% Sonoma). In this region, the bay breezes and morning fog combine to create a cooler climate ideal for growing Chardonnay rich with concentrated flavors. The wine went through malolactic fermentation and oak aging to soften some of the acidity.
The result? Butterscotch, toasty coconut, banana cream pie, silky, creamy flavors and a clean refreshing finish.
This dance is over.
