48 cases made to support freedom and justice for Black people and, by extension, all people.
For far too long in this country, systemic racism, hate, and exclusion have deprived people of their humanity and robbed them of opportunity. Now, in the face of these evils, we vow to pursue change and fight for rebirth.
Working with acclaimed artist Dwight White II, we created Reborn as a special project to provide support for The Simple Good and Black Lives Matter. By purchasing this wine, you will help fund and uplift these important organizations working to build better futures for all of us.
For this red blend, we challenged our team to go where we haven't gone before, uniquely blending 50% Syrah with 50% Skin-Fermented Viognier to create one of the most exceptional examples of winemaking to ever come out of our garage.
We began with Syrah from one of the best sources in our state, Calistoga's own Frediani Vineyard. This fabled vineyard is home to some of Napa Valley's oldest vines, which thrive under the hot Calistoga summer days, producing fruit with opulent black fruit flavor and pepper spice.
While blending small amounts of Viognier with Syrah isn't uncommon, we are unaware of any producer that has gone 50/50, much less skin-fermented the Viognier. This process, which we use to create our famous "orange wines," lets juice from white grapes ferment on their skins to extract color and fragrance. The Viognier, we sourced from Shake Ridge Ranch, another legendary vineyard in Amador County. By itself, the Viognier would have been an amazing wine, but combined with the Syrah, we created something new entirely.
The first thing you'll notice once you pour Reborn are the pronounced tropical aromas overflowing from the glass. Trust us, you've never smelled a red wine like this before. Once you take a sip, the Syrah's lush blackberry and blueberry flavors intermix with apricot, peach, and vibrant acidity from the Viognier. The tension between these two grapes creates something that's almost indescribably delicious, like a floral cherry cola with tannin, structure, and pepper spice. Bertus's gambit paid off once again.
For the label, we worked with Chicago-based painter, Dwight White II. This piece, created for his Reborn exhibition, represents a significant moment in his journey towards becoming an artist.
Tank will donate the majority of the proceeds, split equally between The Simple Good and Blacks Lives Matter, after final costs. We'll be announcing our total contribution later this year once all bottles are sold.

This wine may be sold out, but the conversation is far from over. There is still so much work to be done. We vow to be a part of the change. ✊🏽
