As long as the ball keeps spinning, we'll keep dancing.
Prepare your lips for a wine that shimmers with all the decadence, glamour, and excess of the 1970s. I Love You, but I've Chosen Disco isn't just a blend of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, and Syrah; it's the sexiest wine you'll ever taste.
When it comes to Zinfandel and Dry Creek Valley, if you know, you know. But in case you didn't, it's the hot spot all the cool kids are flocking to for ripe, extravagant grapes. And Grist Vineyard, well, it's basically Studio 54. Named after the old grist mill that once stood on the property, Grist Vineyard sits at over 1,000 feet in elevation at the fog line on Bradford Mountain. The vineyard's original plantings go back to the 1920s, but our lot was fittingly planted in the 1970s. Though temperatures are more moderate up here, Grist has one hell of a dance floor. Comprised of iron-rich, red volcanic Boomer loam and Stonyford loam soils, the grounds resemble the famed terra rosa of Tuscany and produce glitzy and concentrated flavors.
Between mid-September and mid-October of 2021, we made several trips up to Grist to pick rows of grapes at their optimal ripeness. Once back at the crib, pressed the Zinfandel and co-fermented the Petite Sirah and Syrah together, allowing their flavors to interlock and kiss under the glitzy lights of our production garage. After almost a year in neutral oak, we blended and bottled the wine and got out on the dance floor.
Ahhh, baby! Our hearts are full of love and desire for this one. It's like Donna Summer, but wine. In the glass, marvel at the rich garnet color, with red lipstick around the edges. Juicy, bombastic aromas of black cherries, cigar box, and floral perfume bounce out of the glass. On your tongue, it's straight-up sexual and oozing with erotic brambly flavors, cherry pie, vanilla, tempered spice, and just a silky-smooth mouthfeel. Elegant tannins integrate with the powerful core of berry flavors that will make you want to sing all night long.
And that's just what our hearts want because, honestly, the only time we really feel alive is when we're out on the dance floor. Which is why despite the amazing time we've shared and how much we really, truly love you...we've chosen Disco. We'll always choose Disco.
Designed by mixed-media artist and creative force Lexie Alley, our label perfectly captures the essence of a Disco-head from the 1970s, indulging in the over-the-top nightclub wonderlands of the era. On the surface, this culture was about sex, drugs, and letting go, but underneath, disco techs were a safe haven for people from marginalized backgrounds who were allowed to finally be who they really were. And it was sexy.
